Unlike conventional medicine, which often focuses on managing symptoms, Functional Medicine takes a personalized, systems-based approach to identify and address the underlying root causes of your health issues.

What to Expect in Your Initial Appointment

Duration: 90 + minutes (depending on complexity)

This extended visit allows ample time for a deep dive into your unique health story—no rushing through a 15-minute slot.

During your appointment, your practitioner will:

• Review your complete health history: From birth through today, including chronic conditions, past illnesses, surgeries, medications, supplements, and family history.

• Explore your lifestyle factors: Diet, nutrition, sleep, stress, exercise, environmental exposures, relationships, and work-life balance.

• Discuss your current symptoms and goals: I listen carefully to what you’re experiencing and what you hope to achieve.

• Assess key body systems: Using a Functional Medicine framework (gut health, hormones, immune function, energy metabolism, detoxification, etc.).

• Order targeted testing (if appropriate): Advanced lab work, genetic testing, or specialty tests that go beyond standard bloodwork to uncover hidden imbalances.

• Begin creating your personalized plan: You’ll leave with initial recommendations for nutrition, supplements, lifestyle changes, and next steps.
